As human beings, we are groomed to believe that some people have brains while others have brawns; there are jocks who go their entire lives asking nerds “could you write an essay for me ?” But the world is a big place, where possibly all kinds of combinations exist, and somewhere in this world a nerd became a jock later on life, and a jock became a nerd. Today we will be talking about the latter jocks who seemingly took up the nerdy profession of writing.

Football is a game that has different meanings in the US and the UK, but the players of each game are renowned and granted quite a lot of fame and glory. The most commonly known names amongst footballers are David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi; these are names of football players you have heard of even if you have no clue about the sport. The English version of football is the more popular one worldwide, with its own world cup in which almost 211 countries participate. American football and English football are both games that have demanded large revenues in their own markets. However, despite the fame and glory that many players get when playing the sport, it is not unheard of for them to change their field, or dab a little in other types of works. Many sportsmen have become actors, and so we were not surprised when we saw the results of footballers who had become authors. 1. Francesco Totti

Francesco Totti is number one on our list for a reason, that reason being how he let the haters hate and somehow used their jabs at him to become a better person. Francesco Totti was made fun of by many because he was “too thick in the head”, but he published a joke book about himself and gave proceeds to charity. He has even written entertaining travel guides on the eternal city called “ E mo’ te spiego Roma. La mia guida all’antica Roma (And Now I Explain Rome to You. My Guide to Ancient Rome)” and “Roma 10. In giro per Roma col Capitano,(Roma 10. Around Rome with the Captain)”. His most recent book is about his own life, “Un Capitan” is set to release on 30 September 2019 and is available for preorder in paperback and on kindle on Amazon. 2. Steve Bruce

Another man who was not afraid of dabbling in writing and literature, Steve Bruce played for Man Utd and started writing. The very first work of his that got published was in 1994, it was an autobiography called “Heading for Victory”. The book contains some of Bruce’s history, but mainly how Manchester United rose to the top, and the insight into the locker room talks and moments shared with team members.

From 1999–2000, Steve Bruce published a trilogy series based on Steve’s own life, the books were called “Striker” “Defender” and “Sweeper”. The books followed the story of Steve Barnes (this is not a coincidence) who is a football manager (also not a coincidence) and a crime solver. Basically, Steve Barnes discovers a dead body in the locker room and becomes a suspect in the murder, this fuels his investigation to finding the real killer, and this is just the first book. 3. Frank Lampard jr

Yet another example before your eyes, if you set your mind to it you can achieve it. One of the best football players became the author of children’s books Frank Lampard is a guy who works hard and has so far managed to write 16 books for children. David Icke was not the best footballer, however, he is one of the most creative writers that were once footballers. He is quite a controversial figure and a prominent conspiracy theorist, who has authored more than 15 books.
